About this independent guide
Local information with a clear purpose: helping families find understanding, connection and their next step.
Independent by design
DeafToo is an independent family information project. It is not run by, affiliated with or endorsed by NDCS, the NHS, Stockport Council or any listed provider.
Links to an organisation mean that it may provide relevant information or support. They do not imply a partnership or guarantee its service.
Our approach
- Keep the child and family’s priorities central.
- Respect BSL, speech, Cued Speech, mixed approaches and different home languages.
- Consider understanding, expression, learning, relationships and identity.
- Include children with additional needs and families from different backgrounds.
- Distinguish family suggestions from published service facts.
- Use clear information and avoid promises about individual outcomes.
How we check information
Information was checked on 1 October 2026 using published council, NHS, Government, provider and specialist charity sources. Each guide links to the sources relevant to that topic. The directory uses published contact routes.
A check date records when the source was consulted, not when a service personally confirmed availability. This site is a manually maintained guide. It does not automatically recheck information.
Confirm current appointment arrangements, eligibility, deadlines, fees and event access directly. Historical reviews and meeting papers are labelled with their dates.
Use the guide for the next conversation
The family prompts and worksheets are practical suggestions. They do not assess a child, decide eligibility or replace clinical, education, benefits or legal advice about individual circumstances.
No individual school placement, benefit award, grant, treatment result or compensation outcome is promised.
Help improve the guide
Prepare a correction or suggestion with the page and an official source. Please leave out children’s personal information.
The parent group’s independent administrator and application contact are still being confirmed. The community page clearly shows that applications are not yet open.
