Accessibility and language access
Use the site in the way that is most comfortable for you, and ask services about the access your family needs.
Using these pages
The site uses readable text, clear headings, labelled controls and visible keyboard focus. It adapts to different screen sizes and supports browser zoom. There is no autoplay sound or flashing content.
You can use the Skip to content link, keyboard navigation and the Print this page button. The main guides and directory are available without JavaScript; search, filters and the navigator use JavaScript.
Formats and translations
The site’s written content is in English. It does not currently offer its own BSL translation or professionally translated versions. Selected external sources provide their own BSL or accessible information.
Browser translation may help with a first reading, but it can change meaning. For decisions about health, education, benefits or rights, ask the relevant service for an accessible explanation and a qualified interpreter where needed.
Request access before an appointment
- Describe the language and format needed by the child and the adults attending.
- Ask for BSL interpretation or spoken language interpretation where required.
- Request written information, captions or another suitable format.
- Ask how the child can express their views directly.
- Confirm the arrangements before attending, rather than assuming they have been booked.
If a page is difficult to use
Prepare an accessibility issue report with the page, device and what prevented you using it. You do not need to include personal medical information.
