Stepping Hill: published concerns and family support

A separate, factual starting point for families with questions about children’s hearing assessments and local service arrangements.

What this page covers

Public NHS papers have described concerns, review work and disruption involving Stockport’s children’s audiology service. Families may have questions about earlier tests, waiting lists or who now provides their child’s care.

Confirm your child’s current care route

Check the organisation, contact details and location on the latest appointment letter. HealthHarmonie’s published Stockport service information lists 0161 515 4563 and [email protected].

NHS Greater Manchester separately lists the Stockport NHS audiology contact route. Because arrangements can differ between children, confirm which provider holds your child’s referral before using a general contact.

Questions to ask in writing

  • Were my child’s earlier hearing tests included in the review?
  • Which tests and dates were checked, and what did the review find?
  • Do they need reassessment or another specialist opinion?
  • Who is responsible for their care now, and what is the next step and date?
  • What support is available for language, education and wellbeing while we wait?
  • How can we obtain the relevant results, letters and explanation?

The national review is a different source

The Kingdon Review considers children’s hearing services across England. Its findings give national context, but do not replace an answer about an individual child’s records.
